NEW ORLEANS/Jan. 15, 2003“TARTAN TV” -- a fast-paced magazine format TV program that takes viewers on a half-hour journey through the rolling hills, scenic glens, medieval castles and famous links courses of Scotland celebrating Caledonian celebrities, movies, music and culture -- has been selected by the National Association of Television Programming Executives 40th Annual Conference and Exhibition to inaugurate this year’s marketplace, which opens Monday, Jan. 20th at 2:00 pm.

Scotland-based Tartan TV Ltd. – which is offering broadcasters and cable networks a chance to capitalize on 52 episodes of their new series at booth 661 in the British Pavilion-- will assemble a band of kilted bagpipers, fiddlers, mandolins, hammer dulcimers and Scottish country dancers to lead attendees into the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and onto the exhibit show floor to officially open the largest confab of television programmers in North America.

“NATPE has done an excellent job unifying the global television community, and we are proud to lend a bit of Scottish heritage to this year’s conference,” said Robert Scott, Tartan TV Ltd.’s chief executive, who also appears in the program. “It’s also a chance for us to introduce the programming community to the magnetic appeal of Scottish culture,” continued Scott. “Whilst the pipers and dancers reel and jig, we’ll be showing TV programmers how ‘TARTAN TV’s’ universal appeal goes well beyond expats and those interested in Scotland.”
